Shadow is the main protagonist of Cyber Shadow. He is a cybernetic ninja who is forced on a journey to save the remainder of his clan from Dr. Progen and his army of robots.

Background[]
In his human form Shadow was a member of a ninja clan dedicated to the Eternal Dragon; the god of their order. A promising student, Shadow always possessed a talent for communion with the Ethos, able to hear the Dragon's voice. During the Blood Moon, he daringly partook in the ritual to reach the Sacred Torii without getting caught, taking everyone by surprise. This attempt proved successful, when the Master, the leader of the clan, sensed his potential. She could see clearly his connection, though Apparitor, her subordinate, scoffed at the very idea, proclaiming Shadow a weakling. Shrugging off his protests, the Master takes Shadow and proceeds to train him herself.
As their training intensified, Shadow and the Master grew closer, eventually falling in love. After their training was complete, the Master gave him a golden locket, an heirloom, and programmed her image in it. Sensing that she didn't have long, she told Shadow, that through their love in life and death, they would always be together, and that the locket would be the symbol of their bond.
One day, the Master suffered a terrible injury from a freak accident during a mission, leaving her in critical condition. Her father, Dr. Progen, a famed scientist who made revolutionary advancements in robotics, attempted to save her by using his research to tap into the Ethos; the spiritual plane. This proved to be a failure, causing a massive explosion that leveled most of Mekacity, killing many of Shadow's clan, and leaving Shadow himself near death's door.
Cyber Shadow[]
In Cyber Shadow, sometime after the previous events, Shadow wakes from a nightmare of that moment, to find he has survived but is within an artificial body. L-Gion, the mechanized form of his friend Gio, took Shadow and informed him of the dire situation of the clan and Mekacity; Progen, insane with desperation has attempted to save the Master through the most heinous methods, even going so far as to enslave the souls of the clan and the civilians. To save the world from the depraved doctor's rampage, Shadow journeys around the ruins, beset by robots and monsters of various shapes and sizes, including Apparitor, who betrayed the clan to serve Progen in hopes of saving the Master's life. As the journey advanced, Shadow's essence slowly weakens and so does his connection to the physical plane. After visiting various shrines to reclaim his memories and skills, he is blessed by the Dragon God with an extension of life and empowerment of his already formidable skills. After a harrowing battle, Shadow frees the souls of his tormented brethren and together with the Elementals, the strongest ninja in the clan, they free their imprisoned Master. Reunited with his beloved, the two ascend, free to return to the Spirit Realm and to their comrades to serve the Dragon.
Some time after, a mysterious man appears and plugs a drive into Shadow's discarded robot body. What happens next is unclear.
