The Dragon is a being worshipped by the Shadow's clan. It is an ethereal entity that is the keeper of balance, with its duty being to maintain the equilibrium between the mortal plain and the Ethos. Within the clan, the Master and her loyal Elementals are the ones who can clearly hear the Dragon's call. All who serve the Dragon are destined to defend the balance in this deity's name in life and in death, making their mission an eternal one.

Cyber Shadow[]
In Cyber Shadow, following Dr. Progen's mad attempt at accessing the shrines of the clan to steal power from the Ethos, Shadow, after many harrowing battles, reaches the Dragon Shrine on the outskirts of Mekacity. Upon meditating at the shrine, Shadow comes face to face with the Dragon, the god of his clan. Of all who can hear his call, the Dragon sees that Shadow is all that remains of the clan that serves him. However, he is quick to see that Shadow's fading essence would not be enough to complete the mission and so he blesses the cyberized ninja with a life extension and power. He tells the shinobi that he will have to sacrifice himself to free the Master from her mechanized hell, and that he is destined to serve, in death as in life. With that, the deity vanishes back into the Ethos.

- The philosophy behind the game, the Dragon and the Ethos stems from actual Shinobi philosophy regarding life and death as taught in the Shinobi Manual "Bansenshukai". As with all things, every living creature is born of essence and spirit. Essence is a stillness that binds the spirit of a being to the physical plane, and Spirit is intent coalesced into physical form. Hence the shinobi don't fear mortal death, and embrace it willingly, as it is returning from mortality to true immortality, as the Essence, A.K.A. the 一気One Chi that cannot be created nor destroyed is eternal and ever living. The Dragon itself manifests as a form of this harmony, as a living symbol of Yin and Yang.
